Things to be Known about Root Canal Therapy

A dental problem is to be cured in time. Otherwise, it creates many other problems. Root canal therapy is one such dental treatment which is recommended for people who are suffering from severe tooth pain. A proper functioning of the dental pulp ensures a proper functioning of the tooth. However, the pulp may get damaged because of the sporting injuries or due to the attempts of the dentist when fixing the past decayed areas. A root canal treatment is necessary at such conditions to treat the nerves or the dental pulp.

First the dentist recommends to take an X-ray. If it is found that there is some infection, then prior to the root canal treatment, an antibiotic therapy is provided. In the treatment, the patient is given a local anesthesia and the pulp, bacteria and decayed nerve tissue is removed by the dentist with root canal files. These files are used to scrap and scrub the sides of the channels till the bottom of the tooth. Then the tooth is sealed. However, a temporary seal may be advised if the treatment requires many visits. As a last part of the treatment, the canals are filled with a sealer paste and rubber compound. If the fillings are large, then a crown is recommended to safeguard the mouth.

However, after the treatment is done, specific care has to be taken in order to avoid any infections. Ensure that you visit the dentist whenever required. In order to relieve the pain after the treatment, use certain over-the-counter drugs or use the antibiotics recommended by the dentist. Though expensive, the treatment is suggestible to avoid the tooth pain.
