Evaluating The Success Of Recruiting Process

Most companies evaluate the success of recruiting with filling of a position with the right candidate. In fact, filling up the position is just a part of the recruiting process. A recruiting process is said to be successful only when the position is not required to be re-recruited.

In simple words, a recruiting process should make sure that the person who joins the organization stay long term and do not disengage due to issues in his compatibility with organization. It could also be for the reason that the candidate is not aligned with the commitment he made to the company and quits it as soon as he gets some other good opportunity elsewhere.

This issue is seen with most companies that have simple recruiting process or incompetent recruiting staff. The assessment of the morals or commitment of the candidate is as important as assessing his skills and degrees. The assessing skills come from the experience and competence of the recruiter.

Nature Marvels Are Astonishing

We have our seven wonders of the world, all of them artificial creations. Even nature is also marvelous architect. It has many astonishing wonders which make us awestruck. I say that nature itself is a wonder.

The most common wonder we are able to see is the rainbow. How astonishing does the rainbow look with its seven heavenly colors lined parallel to each other, but when you start running to catch it you never succeed. There are many such wonders in nature and after a long debate on how large the list should be, the great learned people who participated in the debate couldn’t come up with a result. But at present we have 7 natural wonders chosen through an open global poll. This list is organized by New Open World Corporation of Switzerland. Thus selected were the seven wonders of nature below,

  • Grand Canyon of Arizona, US
  • Great Barrier reef near Australia
  • Harbor of Rio de Janeiro
  • Mount Everest of Himalayas
  • The Victoria Falls or Mosi-oa-Tunya of Africa
  • Auroras which are visible only from high southern latitudes in Antarctica, South America or Australasia.
  • ParĂcutin of Mexico.

Bermuda Triangle: Still Unsolved Mystery

As we are trying to explore all the secrets in space, there are still some mysteries which are still not solved on our home planet. The Bermuda triangle will be one of them. This is actually a region in the northwest of Atlantic Ocean. There are so many cases of disappearing air vessels and air crafts, as big as a 20 storey building. Take a news paper and tear into hundreds of pieces, so small that they shouldn’t be visible again. That’s not possible. Then how come are so big ships and flying air crafts disappeared. In spite of great satellites keeping watch on us from hundreds of miles above the sky, we cannot figure out how they vanished. Many say that there are aliens out there sucking in all the men and their crafts. Some physicians try to explain the phenomenon in physics terms but they failed to explain still many of the events that took place there. Well if you would like to solve the mystery yourself, you can hire a plane your self and get into action. The boundaries of triangle are somewhere around the Atlantic coast of Florida; San Juan, Puerto Rico; and the mid-Atlantic island of Bermuda. May be you can come across aliens or pirates or Plato’s Atlantis.

Firefox 3 Download Day Record

Firefox 3, the recently released open source browser from Mozilla, has claimed that over 8 million copies of the software were downloaded on Download Day. The company stated early that their goal was to surpass the initial release of Firefox 2, at 1.6 million downloads in 24 hours, and hit 5 million downloads. The goal of the marketing campaign is to order a Guinness World Record for most downloaded software in a single day. A few days have passed and, exclusion the server downtime that plagued users for a few hours, the results look auspicious for Mozilla's world record attempt. According to the official Mozilla blog, Firefox 3 easily cruised past 5 million users downloads. "We exceeded 8 million downloads in our 24 hour period," the blog states. Downloads were tracked from 11:16am PDT on June 17th to 11:16am PDT on the following day.

The next step in the process is for Firefox 3 to be certified by Guinness World Records. To help get their audit logs in order, Mozilla has brought on two external judges: Paul Vixie, of the Internet Systems Consortium, and Corey Shields, of the University of Indiana's University of Information Technology Services. Once the two judges and Mozilla feel confident that their download logs are in order, they will be bimanual over to the people at Guinness World Records for verification. If the attempt is verified, Firefox 3 will be the first recipient of the most software downloaded in a single day record. The process of having a record certified by Guinness can take two different paths. If Mozilla chooses not to expedite the service, the results will be released in four to six weeks. On the other hand, if the company opts for Fast Review, the results could be available in three days from the time the logs are submitted. For users who want to display pride in their effort to help ordered a world record, Mozilla is offering certificates. By feat to SpreadFirefox.com and clicking on the 'Flaunt It' tab, Firefox 3 Download Day participants can indicant out a personalized certificate.

Sovereignty

Sovereignty is the exclusive right to have control over an area of governance, people, or oneself. A sovereign is the highest lawmaking authority. Enlightenment philosopher Jean-Jacques Rousseau, in Book III, Chapter III of his 1763 treatise Of the Social Contract, argued, "the growth of the State giving the trustees of public authority more and means to abuse their power, the more the Government has to have power to contain the people, the more force the Sovereign should have in turn in order to contain the Government," with the understanding that the Sovereign is "a collective being" resulting from "the general will" of the people, and that "what any man, whoever he may be, orders on his own, is not a law" and in addition predicated on the assumption that the people have an impartial means by which to ascertain the general will. Thus the legal maxim, "there is no law without a sovereign."

In this model, national sovereignty is of an everlasting origin, such as nature, or a god, legitimating the divine right of kings in absolute monarchies or a theocracy. A more official distinction is whether the law is held to be sovereign, who constitutes a true state of law: the letter of the law is appropriate and enforceable, even when against the political will of the nation, as long as not officially changed following the constitutional procedure. Strictly speaking, any deviation from this principle constitutes a rebellion or a coup detats, regardless of the intentions. In legitimate and international law, the concept also pertains to a government possessing full control over its own affairs within a territorial or geographical area or limit, and in certain context to various organs possessing legal jurisdiction in their own chief, rather than by mandate or under supervision. Determining whether a exact entity is sovereign is not an exact science, but often a matter of diplomatic dispute.

Computer Games Controversy

A personal computer game (also known as a computer game or simply PC game) is a video game played on a personal computer, rather than on a video game console or arcade machine. Computer games have evolved from the simple graphics and gameplay of early titles like Spacewar, to a wide range of more visually advanced titles.
Computer games have long been a source of controversy, particularly related to the violence that has become commonly associated with video gaming in general. The debate surrounds the influence of objectionable content on the social development of minors, with organizations such as the American Psychological Association concluding that video game violence increases children's aggression, a concern that prompted a further investigation by the Center for Disease Control in September 2006. Industry groups have responded by noting the responsibility of parents in governing their children's activities, while attempts in the United States to control the sale of objectionable games have generally been found unconstitutional. Video game addiction is another cultural aspect of gaming to draw criticism, as it can have a negative influence on health and on social relations and in the most extreme cases has led to death as a result of prolonged gameplay. The problem of addiction and its health risks seems to have grown with the rise of Massive Multiplayer Online Role Playing Games (MMORPGs).

Customer Satisfaction

Customer satisfaction, a business term, is a measure of how products and services supplied by a company meet or surpass customer expectation. It is seen as a key performance indicator within business and is part of the four perspectives of a Balanced Scorecard. In a competitive marketplace where businesses compete for customers; customer satisfaction is seen as a key differentiator and increasingly has become a key element of business strategy.

Organizations are increasingly interested in retaining existing customers while targeting non-customers; measuring customer satisfaction provides an indication of how successful the organization is at providing products and/or services to the marketplace.

Customer satisfaction is an ambiguous and abstract concept and the actual manifestation of the state of satisfaction will vary from person to person and product/service to product/service. The state of satisfaction depends on a number of both psychological and physical variables, which correlate with satisfaction behaviors such as return and recommend rate. The level of satisfaction can also vary depending on other options the customer may have and other products against which the customer can compare the organization's products.

Because satisfaction is basically a psychological state, care should be taken in the effort of quantitative measurement, although a large quantity of research in this area has recently been developed. The ten domains of satisfaction include: Quality, Value, Timeliness, Efficiency, Ease of Access, Environment, Inter-departmental Teamwork, Front line Service Behaviors, Commitment to the Customer and Innovation. These factors are emphasized for continuous improvement and organizational change measurement and are most often utilized to develop the architecture for satisfaction measurement as an integrated model.

The usual measures of customer satisfaction involve a survey with a set of statements using a Likert Technique or scale. The customer is asked to evaluate each statement and in term of their perception and expectation of the performance of the organization being measured.

Quality Of Life

The well being or quality of life of a population is an important concern in economics and political science. It is measured by many social and economic factors. A large part is standard of living, the amount of money and access to goods and services that a person has; these numbers are fairly easily measured. Others like freedom, happiness, art, environmental health, and innovation are far harder to measure. This has created an inevitable imbalance as programs and policies are created to fit the easily available economic numbers while ignoring the other measures that are very difficult to plan for or assess. Debate on quality of life is millennia-old, with Aristotle giving it much thought in his Nicomachean Ethics and eventually settling on the notion of eudemonia, a Greek term often translated as happiness, as central. The neologism liveability (or livability), from the adjective live able, is an abstract noun now often applied to the built environment or a town or city, meaning its contribution to the quality of life of inhabitants.

Understanding quality of life is today particularly important in health care, where monetary measures do not readily apply. Decisions on what research or treatments to invest the most in are closely related to their effect on a patient's quality of life. Organizational well-being looks at related factors from a corporate perspective, although this agenda is also informed by the employers' duty-of-care and external drivers. Organizational well-being looks at well-being issues that affect a company's staff and manages them to drive change and improve performance

Security Measures Of Computer Insecurity

A state of computer "security" is the conceptual ideal, attained by the use of the three processes:
  • Prevention,
  • Detection, and
  • Response.
  • User account access controls and cryptography can protect systems files and data, respectively.
  • Firewalls are by far the most common prevention systems from a network security perspective as they can (if properly configured) shield access to internal network services, and block certain kinds of attacks through packet filtering.
  • Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS's) are designed to detect network attacks in progress and assist in post-attack forensics, while audit trails and logs serve a similar function for individual systems.
  • "Response" is necessarily defined by the assessed security requirements of an individual system and may cover the range from simple upgrade of protections to notification of legal authorities, counter-attacks, and the like. In some special cases, a complete destruction of the compromised system is favored.
Today, computer security comprises mainly "preventive" measures, like firewalls or an Exit Procedure. A firewall can be defined as a way of filtering network data between a host or a network and another network, such as the Internet, and is normally implemented as software running on the machine, hooking into the network stack (or, in the case of most UNIX-based operating systems such as Linux, built into the operating system kernel) to provide real-time filtering and blocking. Another implementation is a so-called physical firewall, which consists of a separate machine filtering network traffic. Firewalls are common amongst machines that are permanently connected to the Internet (though not universal, as demonstrated by the large numbers of machines "cracked" by worms like the Code Red worm which would have been protected by a properly-configured firewall). However, relatively few organizations maintain computer systems with effective detection systems, and fewer still have organized response mechanisms in place.

Tips to Choose the Right Roommate

Let me share some tips to choose a roommate for those who are living in Philadelphia Apartments. It is pleasures to see someone’s face that we wants to see every day in the morning and last at night. One can select such roommate using some of these tips I mention here:
  • Choose a roommate who is roughly as clean or as messy as you are. Because neat goes with neat, and messy goes with messy.
  • Do not choose a person for likeability but select for his/her compatibility. Friends may not always become the best roommates. You see your friends on a limited basis; so neither of you has to deal regularly with each other's habits. This would change once you became roommates, and your friendship could be strained as a result.
  • Choose the one who can discuss with you in financial matters. Because, the common aspects of splits between roommates arises by financial matters.
  • Have clear preferences on inviting friends over. If you don’t like having your roommate's friends over all the time or letting friends sleep on the couch, it will be a source of tension.
  • Discuss on how late or early you go to bed and how sound of a sleeper you are. Do you mind it if your roommate talking loudly late in the night? Do you mind having an early-to-bed roommate who always shouting to turn down lights, TV?
Make sure you're especially honest about your lifestyle preferences when discussing rooming with a friend.

Do You Drive A 1996 Or Newer Car Or Light Truck?

If so, you'll be glad to know that your vehicle is equipped with an early warning system that could save you time, money, and fuel in addition to helping protect the environment! Today’s vehicles are highly sophisticated and efficient. All 1996 and newer cars and trucks have an advanced power train control computer that uses second generation on-board diagnostics technology to manage and monitor the operation of the engine, transmission, and emissions control components. OBD keeps your engine running at peak efficiency and will alert you when repairs are needed.
When you turn on the ignition, the “Service Engine Soon” or “Check Engine” light should flash briefly, indicating that the OBD system is ready to scan your vehicle for any malfunctions. If the light comes on and stays on, the OBD system has detected a problem. Your vehicle might have a condition that wastes fuel, shortens engine life, or causes excessive air pollution.
If the light stays on there is no cause for panic. The vehicle is just telling you to seek attention soon. When you reach your destination, make sure the gas cap is not loose or missing. Always turn off your engine when refueling. If the light does not go out after a few short trips following gas cap replacement or tightening, have your vehicle serviced by a qualified repair technician soon! If the light is blinking, a severe engine problem such as a catalyst-damaging misfire is occurring and should be addressed as soon as possible.

Christmas Tree Buying Tips

The most popular varieties of Christmas trees are: Fraser Fir, Douglas Fir, White Pine, Scotch Pine, Noble Fir and Balsam Fir.

The most important consideration is freshness. Many Christmas trees are trucked a considerable distance, sometimes part way across the continent and days or even weeks may pass between the time the trees are cut and when they arrive for sale. Always ask the vendor where the tree has come from and how long ago it was cut. If possible, buy a locally produced tree. Does it appear green and healthy with a fragrant smell and moist flexible needles or is there evidence of drying or browning. Avoid any trees with broken branches or damaged bark. Bounce the tree lightly on its cut end if you can or shake it. Does this result in an inevitable little sprinkling or does it produce a shower of needles? If needles rain down, you might be wise to look around a little more. The next consideration after freshness is size. Make sure the tree you buy will fit comfortably in the room and location you have chosen. Use a tape measure if necessary. Check the bottom of the tree. Is there enough space between the end and the lowest branches to make a slightly diagonal fresh cut? Cutting an extra inch off the bottom before mounting your tree will greatly help water absorption and ensure your tree lasts as long as possible. Be sure to make this final cut just before placing it in water. If it is exposed to the air for too long, the vessels will become blocked.

Over-Weighting in High-Risk - Non-Diversified Funds

This mistake is an explicit case in point of portfolio disparity. A huge amount of total portfolio assets are determined in funds with very high risk/reward characteristics, even though the fund types may actually imitate selected investment objectives. The result is extreme instability in the price movement of these funds, which, in many cases cause poor performance of portfolio as very large proportion of risk does not justify the potential reward -- in other words, the risk is highly unequal to overall profit potential. Over-weighting can occur with any type of risk tolerance, even though this specific type of over-weighting is more likely to be a problem in portfolios with aggressive risk tolerances.

High-risk, non-diversified stock fund categories include domestic and foreign small-cap growth, emerging markets and sector funds; in bond categories, emerging market and certain high-yield funds are also high risk. These fund types can be appropriate in many portfolios, provided an investor adheres to the principles of effective diversification: distinct risk/reward objectives within a variety of fund types and a reduction in overall portfolio risk.

Are there any acceptable percentages of high-risk, non-diversified funds to own in a portfolio? Most guidelines suggest between 5-30% of total portfolio assets, depending upon the choices of aggressive, moderate or conservative risk tolerances and growth, balance or income-oriented return objectives. The key is to treat high risk, non-diversified mutual funds as a suitable portfolio supplement without dramatically increasing overall risk.
