Banner ads are usually rectangular boxes that appear on web pages. A hyper link is inserted to the rectangular box which navigates the browser to the advertisers site by clicking on the banner ad.  It is an inexpensive way of advertising.

When you refresh the site the ad will again show up. Floating ads are very popular because it will grab the attention of users, because of the animation and graphics.

Text ads will contain a few lines of data with a link. It is very difficult to count how many text ads are there in a particular page.
