Tips for Parents: How to Reduce Math Disabilities of Children

Math is very important in lives of children and in their career. Math through algebra and even calculus are required by many of the fastest growing occupations. It is a cumulative subject in school, particularly it helps in developing knowledge.

In elementary schools, teachers teach the math subject very poorly. The bad results of children, can be due to combination of reasons such as teacher”s poor understanding of mathematical concepts, inadequate knowledge of teaching methods in mathematics, and limited knowledge about modifying teaching approaches to reach learners with a typical learning profiles. There are few tips to parents to reduce the math disabilities of their children, such as:
  • Tell to your children about importance of maths in their careers and lives. Tell them that technology require a strong knowledge of math, tell them how it plays a vital role in the advancements which improves the standard of living.
  • You can take direct teaching role, because direct teaching involves explaining concepts and procedures to your child.
  • Though you have a negative feeling about math, you need to make a conscious effort to change these feelings and your children should be encouraged about math subject. You can encourage them by praising their efforts when they are dealing with math.
  • Show them how math is used in their lives practically, by giving the chance to calculate the purchases at stores, calculate the total cost, to develop their mental arithmetic skills.
So these are the tips to be followed, to reduce math disabilities of your child and to increase the interest about math.
