Do Vitamins Promote Anti-aging?

Vitamins, essential nutrients for body functions, ensure many significant health benefits. Some of them, especially vitamin C and vitamin E are effective in promoting anti-aging.

Vitamin C, which is largely found in skin, is also available in certain vegetables and fruits. It plays an important role in repairing damaged cells and also prevents the excessive or cancerous growth of the cells. Hence, it reduces aging. Free radicals which are formed because of stress, cause cell damage. However, this vitamin is a powerful antioxidant that avoids cell damage. Food sources rich in vitamin C and vitamin C supplements should be taken daily to enjoy the benefits of anti-aging.

Vitamin E is another important vitamin that promotes anti-aging. Like vitamin C, it is also an antioxidant and nullifies the effect of free radicals. One of the characteristics features of this vitamin is that it protects cell membranes and improves the functioning of enzymes associated with them. It is found in foods such as green leafy vegetables, seeds, nuts, and vegetable oils. It is even available in various forms of supplements and topical applications.

In addition to the above two vitamins, vitamins A, B and K also considerably play a role in anti-aging. Vitamin A, with its great antioxidant properties, help in preventing wrinkles and other signs of aging. Deficiency of vitamins B12, B6, and folic acid causes loss of memory and increases the chances of heart diseases. These are characteristics of aging and hence, intake of these supplements can slow down the process of aging. So, consider the anti-aging benefits of various vitamins and take proper diet rich in these vitamins, or take vitamin supplements.
