The next step in dental implant surgery is placing of dental implants. After making your mouth numb, an incision in the gums is made by the surgeon for exposing the jawbone. Then a hole is made in your jawbone (an area where tooth is missing) with the help of a drill. A thin titanium screw/rod is placed which will be acting as a tooth root. A few months after placement of this, screw is required for it to fuse with jawbone. This implant is remained hidden under the gums during this period.
You will be feeling some pain after this procedure. Often the pain is mild, but still the discomfort level depends on the person.

Step 3: Replacing protective screw with metal healing cap

After the implants have fused with the jawbone, your surgeon after giving anesthesia will make an incision again at the same place where implants were placed in order to expose them. Then the protective screw in the implant is removed and replaced by metal healing cap. This cap appears like a small metal cylinder that will sit above the gum on the implant.

Step 4: Placing Dental Crowns
The final step of dental implant procedure are implant restoration or placing of dental crown. 2 – 3 weeks after surgery follows the process of dental crown. The surgeon will determine whether the titanium implants are properly fused or not. If fused properly, the dental crown will be fixed on the top of the implant.

Various Causes of Dental Abscess

Dental abscess is one of the oral health issues which makes you irritating. The severe pain associated with tooth abscess makes you uneasy deviating your concentration on anything. It is nothing but a painful infection found at the tooth root or between the gum and a tooth. It is considered that dental abscess is resulted by various causes.

Tooth decay is the primary cause of dental abscess. The direct growth of bacteria on the tooth which is promoted by ineffective oral hygiene is responsible for causing dental abscess. Bacteria tend to grow from an existing cavity into the soft tissues and bones of the face and neck. Improper brushing and flossing rises the cavity formation in your teeth. The infection in the cavity can even spread to gums and other adjacent areas. As the infected tooth do not get appropriate dental care, a dental abscess results.

Apart from tooth decay, any trauma to the tooth may cause dental abscess. Chipped or broken teeth promote formation of dental abscess. This is because, openings in enamel of the tooth that are often associated with chipped or broken teeth allow bacteria to enter inside the tooth. The functional part of the teeth, the dental pulp which contains nerves and blood vessels, get infected with this. From the dental pulp which is the central part of the tooth, the infection may spread to the root of the tooth and also to the bones supporting the tooth. This results in dental abscess. It's, therefore, recommended to maintain an effective dental hygiene to avoid these dental issues. Even unrepaired restorations and periodontal diseases are found to be the causes of dental abscess.

Things to be Known about Root Canal Therapy

A dental problem is to be cured in time. Otherwise, it creates many other problems. Root canal therapy is one such dental treatment which is recommended for people who are suffering from severe tooth pain. A proper functioning of the dental pulp ensures a proper functioning of the tooth. However, the pulp may get damaged because of the sporting injuries or due to the attempts of the dentist when fixing the past decayed areas. A root canal treatment is necessary at such conditions to treat the nerves or the dental pulp.

First the dentist recommends to take an X-ray. If it is found that there is some infection, then prior to the root canal treatment, an antibiotic therapy is provided. In the treatment, the patient is given a local anesthesia and the pulp, bacteria and decayed nerve tissue is removed by the dentist with root canal files. These files are used to scrap and scrub the sides of the channels till the bottom of the tooth. Then the tooth is sealed. However, a temporary seal may be advised if the treatment requires many visits. As a last part of the treatment, the canals are filled with a sealer paste and rubber compound. If the fillings are large, then a crown is recommended to safeguard the mouth.

However, after the treatment is done, specific care has to be taken in order to avoid any infections. Ensure that you visit the dentist whenever required. In order to relieve the pain after the treatment, use certain over-the-counter drugs or use the antibiotics recommended by the dentist. Though expensive, the treatment is suggestible to avoid the tooth pain.
