Know the Adverse Effects of Heroin

Heroin, the most addictive drug, lists among the four most frequently used drugs reported in the drug related death cases by 'The Drug Abuse Warning Network', during the year 2002. Its use is considered as a major problem in America and other countries. The deaths of many famous people and celebrities due to abuse of Heroin are live examples of its dreadfulness. Even though many young people are influenced by those incidents and are getting away from those kind of drugs, still there are some who are not even caring their lives for the sake of minute pleasures.

The effects of Heroin on one's health are very serious like all other drugs. It affects the person for a short time and also shows adverse effects on his health for a longer period of time. The short term effects can be seen even after a single dose, like feeling of euphoria, dry mouth, warm flushing of skin, heavy extremities, a state of wakefulness and drowsiness. These states are due to the affect of Heroin directly on the central nervous system.

There is another kind of Heroin, called as street heroin, which contains some additives which do not dissolve in water and therefore create blocks in the blood vessels which lead to high blood pressure and heart strokes. Heroin also shows adverse affects when used during the time of pregnancy. It affects the delivering baby by causing problems like low weight and health related issues which affects the later development of the child.

Heroin abusing also results in severe psychological problems which affects person for a longer period of time. They suffer from serious depression, stress, tolerance and dependance. These small factors leads to permanent addiction to the drug causing major health problems.
